Painted Turtle On A Pond In Maine

Sunday, September 30, 2012,

Here are two shots of an Eastern Painted Turtle I found on a small pond in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. These turtles are beautiful wherever you find them. Those bright red and yellow stripes are just plain magnificent. Even the shell is “painted” wonderfully. These guys are native to Long Island as well as Maine, but I can never get enough of them. Such beautiful animals. Every time I see one, it’s a treat. JK

  1. Driving back from store a turtel was in middle of road…drove by….turned around and brought it home to my wild back yard. Set her down next to my little pond. Hour latter she was still hanging around checking out the pond.
Too nice, a beautiful PaintedTurtel. First one I have ever Seen.

  2. I was driving back from store and passed a turtel in the middle of road. Buzzed by…felt bad…turned around and brought him/ her home to my little pond in back yard. A Painted Turtel, still there and hour later checking things out. Too cool. Hope she likes it here.
