House Sparrow at Morton

Friday, April 27, 2018,

This is a pair of pics of a House Sparrow. These birds were introduced to North America in the 1800’s and can now be found everywhere in the continental United States. They can also be found in parts of almost every continent including Australia. This bird gets around. It is probably the most widely distributed wild bird in the world. JK.

  1. I believe you are correct. Also, and I can’t be sure about this, but I think I remember reading somewhere that American colonists brought House Sparrows to the New World because they missed their song. I don’t get it. No one has ever brought me anywhere to hear me sing. Sigh. JK.

  2. It’s just as well. Once, when singing for an audience, I thought an old lady in the crowd had died. Five minutes later, to my relief, she started snoring. Whew! True story. JK.
