This is my first Hummingbird. It’s not the first Hummingbird I’ve ever seen but it is the first one that I’ve managed to get a decent photo of. I suggest clicking on each pic to see a larger version. It’s worth it, I think. I took both of these photographs at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside. I didn’t need to drive all the way out there to find Hummingbirds but it is where I finally got lucky. In fact, I go to MNSA for the water and shore birds. This Hummingbird was just a wonderful bonus. JK

Well done!
Thanks Tom. JK.
Super shots! I especially like the second where you get a sense of his wings flapping in a blur. Nice!
To give you some idea of how fast those wings are moving, I shot both of these photographs at 1/1600th of a second. JK.
WOW! She’s going to need a LOT of nectar to keep that up!
They do seem to be sugar addicts. I’m not pointing fingers. You’d be amazed by how much sugar I put into my coffee. Heck, I’m amazed. Sometimes, there isn’t much room for the coffee. JK.
And how fast do YOU flap your wings?
