How do you know she’s a girl frog? Is the coloring different for the guys?
It’s easy, Michele. If they don’t want anything to do with me, I know they’re female. It works with all species. 🙂
Also, with Bullfrogs, the tympanum (or ear) of the males is larger than the eye, whereas the females have a tympanum that is smaller or equal to the size of their eyes. JK.

And I guess you might say if they have a smaller tympanum, they probably don’t listen to you as well as the guys, eh? 😉
Actually, Michele, I believe that the males have a larger tympanum so that they can hear other males in their territory. The females only need to hear the males, but the males need/want to know about any interlopers. JK.
