  1. GREAT PHOTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was about to take a pod myself when I spied the bug in there so I opted for a few seeds :-), didn’t want that bug in my pocket!

  2. Looks like they are having a Dionysian Milkweed Bug Orgy after all you’ve told me of their mating habits. You’re going to have to give ratings to your posts, Joe Kayaker.

  3. Thanks Sue. The seed pods themselves are pretty, don’t you think? JK
Michele, get your mind out of the gutter, please. This is no orgy, Dionysian, or otherwise. This is a family outing. I see only three adults, while the rest of the group are of different larval stages or “instars”, including at least one very tiny youngster.
Milkweed bug love is a tender and intimate affair involving only two consenting adults. And at up to ten hours a session, it’s also fairly time-consuming. Milkweed bugs, perhaps being a bit self-conscious of their breath during such a marathon, copulate end to end. There’s none of that going on here, young lady. JK

  4. Yeah, yeah, yeah — this is just the partying beforehand. And no one is checking Milkweed Bug ID at the door. Letting all those underage Milkweed Bugs into the seed pod. What is nature coming to?
