Female Cardinal, Three Quarter and Profile Poses

Friday, March 23, 2018,

This is a female Northern Cardinal that I photographed last month. The females may not be as flashy as the males but I think they’re just as good-looking. Certainly, the male Cardinals think so. This female is posing in the classic three-quarter and profile poses. She obviously knows how to work around the camera. JK.

Policy Enforcement

Monday, February 26, 2018,

The Elizabeth A. Morton Wildlife Refuge in Sag Harbor has a “No Pets” policy. There are several very good reasons for this, the most obvious being that a loose dog or feral cat could wreak havoc in a place like Morton.

Unfortunately, there isn’t always a Ranger available to enforce this rule so, sometimes, a real nature lover needs to step up and see that this simple rule is obeyed. In this case, it’s Mr. Cardinal who has decided to work the entrance to see that even the simpleton bipeds take notice of the sign. It’s not an easy job but someone has to do it. JK
