Procrastination And A Plover

20160527102538-5x7wtwwMore pics from last year. I’ve still got a bit a catching up to do. This is what comes from being too lazy to go over my photos after taking them. However, laziness is not my only excuse.

While I am usually fairly gung-ho when it comes to taking pics, I have to admit that writing about those pics does not always come so easy. Not to me, at any rate. It’s one thing for me to go out hiking, (or kayaking, as the case may be), to find critters or scenes to photograph but quite another for me to write about said photographs. I don’t need to appear particularly intelligent while I’m wielding a camera. Writing requires a whole different animal and I am never quite sure that I’m the right species.

A Chickadee at Morton Refuge

This is a pair of shots of a Black-capped Chickadee I saw at the Elizabeth A. Morton Wildlife Refuge in Noyack. I took these pics almost a year ago. They’re just two in a bunch that I never got around to posting. I may have been slow in showing them to you folks but they are certainly worth sharing. Also, I really like Chickadees. Cute little critters, aren’t they? JK.

Carolina Wren At Frank Melville Park

This is a pair of shots of a Carolina Wren. I came across it at Frank Melville Memorial Park in Setauket while I was walking through the park with a friend. Isn’t this a cute little bird? It was a good day for birds, both big and small. On the same visit we also saw two Wild Turkeys. How cool is that? Frank Melville is a great park. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, you should really check it out. JK

These pics were taken in November at Sweetbriar. I am almost always behind in posting my pics. In fact, I still have some summer pics that are still waiting to be posted.

This handsome devil is a White-breasted Nuthatch. Besides their looks and their rather nasal call, Nuthatches have another distinguishing feature. They have the curious habit of working their way down a tree in their search for insects. Most other birds work their way up trees. Nuthatches are individualists. Plus sometimes they make for some cool pics. JK
