Robin In Springtime

Monday September 22, 2008

Now that autumn is upon us – it starts today – I thought I’d post a pic of a Robin that I took this past spring. Because I’m going to miss the warm weather, that’s why. I’ve only got two months of kayaking left. Okay, I’m done crying.

Somehow this guy looks cartoonish. I think it’s the beak. He seems to be smiling. Now, of course, Robins don’t smile but if they did this guy would be smiling about the joys of living like the warmth of the springtime sun and all those juicy bugs that come right out of the ground. Mmm, mmm, good. JK

Not Your Classic Osprey Shot

Monday, September 15, 2008

Okay, so this isn’t a shot that you’ll find in National Geographic. But we’re not as classy an organization here and as such, we’re not afraid to give you the real poop. Besides, this is something you do see while kayaking or bird watching. I myself am not a birder but I hear good things.

I’ve noticed that many birds like to lose ballast prior to taking flight. Mom always said to go before you leave your perch. Still good advice, especially as I get older. After taking care of business, this guy stretches his wings and takes off. JK
