This is no spring chicken. Well yes, of course, it’s not a chicken at all. It’s a rabbit. An Eastern Cottontail adult, to be precise. This guy has seen a couple of summers, at least. He may have been delivering eggs when I was a kid. Keep going and going Mr. Energizer. JK

This beautiful little guy was my first new bird of the year and I got him on New Year’s Day. A fine start to the year, I think. When he first hopped out of the underbrush and I saw that chest, I thought maybe it was some kind of thrush but that head is all sparrow. And what a sparrow. Who could refer to this guy as a LBJ, a little brown job? Just look at all that red. This really is an exceptionally good-looking sparrow. JK
