A Red-bellied Woodpecker

Monday, November 30, 2020,

This is a male Red-bellied Woodpecker that I encountered at Morton Refuge in Sag Harbor. One of the ways to discern a male Red-belly from a female is where the red atop their head begins. As you can see in these photos, the red on a male starts at the bill, whereas in a female, the red doesn’t begin till after the eyeball. JK.

More Bluebird Photos

Friday, November 27, 2020,

Two days ago, I posted a pair of photos of a Bluebird that went over fairly well. Here are two more pics of that same bird. I’m not at all sure that they are as good but I thought some folks might like to see them. Plus, I’m feeling kinda lethargic and lazy from Thanksgiving dinner and I thought to see if I get away with not working on a new set of pics. On the other hand, it’s not as if these are terrible photographs. They’re just not terribly good.  🙂   JK.
