This is a female Downy Woodpecker. Downys are the smallest woodpeckers in North America. Their diminutive size allows them to forage amongst twigs and shrubs that larger woodpeckers cannot access. JK

I’m not sure why I like this shot. It’s probably because most of my pics of crows are usually silhouettes. I took this photo three weeks ago while on the Lower Carmans River as it winds through the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. This guy is just leaving the ground. I was lucky to catch him while he was still low to the ground. If I snapped the shot when he reached the sky I wouldn’t be able to capture the detail in his feathers. It would be an even better shot if the crow was coming towards me but I’ll take what I can get. JK
